Thanksgiving 2012

Untitled
It's a time to be thankful, a time to be relaxed, a time to cherish your friends and family, and a time to... gorge on turkey.  And ham.  And every single side dish a pot-luck Thanksgiving holds.  Ohmygoodness.  I must have eaten my weight in turkey last week, but it was all for the good cause of bulking up for the winter.  Right?  What do you mean humans don't stock up and hibernate for the winter?  This girl does.

This year, we packed up the baby and drove down to Gainsville, Florida to visit my Brother and his wife's new home.  It's beautiful, large, and it has a heated pool-- but if you ask them to turn it on, they'll shake their heads and walk away.  I don't blame them, it would cost a fortune to heat up a pool that size... but the answer is always 'no' unless you ask!

Adventures started on Wednesday morning- me packing up the car while the baby played in the leaf piles I raked up earlier that week.  She was ADORABLE, and I wish I got a single picture of her tossing it up in the air, but I didn't because I was enjoying her too much.  I'm selfish.  By early afternoon, I had finished packing the Tahoe to the hilt with all our baggage {toys, food, more toys, diapers, toys...} and picked up my brother-in-law from the airport.  Folks.  This kid is gorgeous.  He turned 21 on November 20th and could easily pass as a D&G model {Dolce & Gabbana, HELLO!}.  We all swung by the Husband's work place, picked him up, and made our 6 hour drive into Florida.  Really, it wasn't so bad, and thankfully I remembered to pack 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Lion King' for our ride down.  Worked like a charm.

Thursday morning we had some breakfast and went to a local park to let the boys blow off some soccer steam and stretch our legs out.  Isabella LOVED the park.  Its a weird {in a good way} combination of a skate park, dog park, soccer park, and playground-park... so there was something for everyone there!

Thursday afternoon & evening... goodness, it was busy with friends and family... and FOOD.  SO MUCH YUMMY FOOD.  A genious friend of theirs constructed a plywood 'topper' to go over their pool table {which takes place of their dining room table} and painted one side with chalkboard paint-- which was so so cool.  As we put the dishes on the 'table' we drew fun little borders and named the dishes, like 'Lip Smacking Good Stuffed Shells.'  I had a TON of fun getting chalky.  I gained no less than 4362 lbs that evening.  Caitlyn, my sis-from-anotha-motha, was a fabulous hostess-- even when we brought SO much baby stuff to invade her house.

We only briefly ventured out to Target and Old Navy for blackfriday... it wasn't so bad, but it was around 2pm, so we avoided any really scary crowds.  Got a few gifts knocked out of the way too, so it was a total success!

Our trip home Saturday was a bit longer than our trip down, but it was bittersweet.  I love my little brother {actually, we're Irish twins-- we're 11months apart... you can do the math...}!  He and his wife are joining us up here in Georgia for xMas and we're SUPER excited to see them again!
