Updates and Nursery for Baby B

Hi readers!  Did I leave you for too long?  It's been a bit crazy at the house with work {my full time job, that is}, cleaning & getting the house ready for our new little arrival.  We had our 37 week doctor’s appointment on Tuesday and everything is right on track... in fact, we're about 38 weeks.  For those that are new to the baby thing {we sure are...} that means we WILL have a baby in less than 3 weeks.  Which is... nuts.

All the vacuuming, laundry folding, toilet scrubbing, and bag-packing can't prepare you for what it's going to be like after a baby arrives, I get that, but those are the only tasks I can think of to keep my mind off the racing ideas, fears, and images of being responsible for another human being.  And we're only expecting 1 baby- can you imagine what multiples would be like?  The husband and I are very very excited to meet our newest little addition... even though I'm still a teensy bit scared of how we're going to get her; labor sounds incredibly painful no matter which way we go about it {drugs or not}.

While I have a plan in mind of how I would LIKE the labor of our little bundle to go, it's really all up to the situation and most importantly, her.  She'll be the one to tell us just how quickly she wants to meet us and in which manner she would like to do so.  It's exciting to not know how it's all going to go down in a few weeks, but scary too.

Like most women these days, I'm hoping to avoid a c-section as much as humanly possible-- the thought of being cut open on a table is just too much for me to even consider and the recovery sounds awful-- but I recognize that things like that will be out my control if the situation turns up-side-down.  And that’s OK.  I have full trust in my doctors and hospital to make the best decision for both me and Baby B.  I'm still undecided about having an epidural.  I know.  It's getting down to that time where I need to decide, but truthfully, I want to see if my body can handle this birth.  Women have been having children for a real long time without the use of drugs and they made it through OK.  My own mom had both me and my brother sans drugs too, so I know it's possible to do it and survive the experience.  We'll see.  I reserve the right to scream at the top of my lungs for the anesthesiologist should I change my mind.

Once the baby and I are able to come home, we plan to have her sleep in our room.  Plan, anyway.  Husband still has to work and I certainly don't want to disturb him with me having to get up every few hours and nurse Baby B, so we may be camping out in one of the guest rooms for a little while to get adjusted to each other; we bought a pack-n-play with a bassinet feature to help with this since I can't see us hauling her crib from room to room.  Oh... did I mention the crib?  I love it.  In fact, I'm in love with the whole nursery.  It will always be a work in progress, but what household isn't after a several state move 60 days ago?  {What were we thinking?}

Okay readers, I leave you now with photos of the haven we’ve created for Baby B.  I hope to be back before the weekend with pics of a few more house projects and some stationery to show you!
